Sophie Layé obtained the 'labellisation' Fondation pour la Recherche Médicale (FRM) of her team to study the neuroprotective mechanisms of n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids in depression (PRINSS).

Team of NutriNeuro lab

Depression affects about 350 million people/year and represents the first leading cause of disability worldwide. Recently, a considerable attention has been paid to n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) in the pathophysiology of mood disorders. The purpose of the PRINSS project is to examine how n-3 PUFAs protect from protracted changes in synaptic functions, brain circuits and emotional behavior in a mouse model of depression using electrophysiological, optical, optogenetic and behavioral methods.
